The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) is a swimming venue located in the Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, New South Wales was a major venue for the 2000 Summer Olympics hosting the swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, the medal events for water polo, and the swimming portion of the modern pentathlon competitions. The Olympics featured 32 events (16 male, 16 female), and a total of 954 swimmers from 150 nations.
The 25m moveable, all-composites, starting-block structure of the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre Pool was engineered by ATL Composites to meet an extremely challenging design criteria – to meet minimal deflection requirements while maintaining Olympic timing accuracy.
