End Grain Balsa

The mechanical properties of end grain balsa make it ideal as a core for sandwich construction.  It has extremely high strength and stiffness to weight ratios, and achieves an excellent bond with epoxy resins and adhesives.  End grain balsa has excellent fire performance, good sound and thermal insulation and high impact strength making it a top choice for high performance composite panels.

Because of the end-grain characteristics, the balsa used in DuFLEX composites panels has good moisture resistance.  Water does not migrate across the grain and damage is restricted to areas immediately surrounding the damaged areas.
